Jack

Jack, 2013. Got family visiting, kids, dogs running around, so my attention wandered at bit, but it's the usual process: Cut and scrape and dig away everything that doesn't belong.

Apologies to Edvard Munch ...

Hi Mr Perry,

Firstly, I know this isn't the right forum for this so I apologise for hijacking "Jacks" comments.

I just finished reading "The Musashi Flex" and I felt compelled to contact you. The way you blend martial arts, history, politics, philosophy and rich characters is awesome, and I mean that it inspires awe. I had read the original Matador trilogy a couple of years ago and "the man who never missed" has floated around in my head ever since. I actually stumbled onto your blog after seeing "The Raid" and looking for information about silat online. It was only then that I discovered that the story of Khadaji, et al, had more to it.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that after 15 years of being a very happy, contented stoner I'm now thinking that I really might be wasting an extremely precious resource, the number of breaths I have left to take. I'm not saying I'm gonna stop smoking weed, that'd be crazy, but I am gonna start to push myself to achieve those things I always thought were just pipe dreams.

You did that.

And I want to thank you for it. I read a lot of books and have never, not once, reached out to contact an author. You have inspired me sir. Many, many thanks. James C, Glasgow, Scotland.

Never hurts to hear things like this, James. Of course, reading stuff stoned is kind of like munchies, it might make it seem better than it is, but still, I appreciate the comments ...
